June 9, 2008 – 8:41 am

In order In this day and age it seems like everyone is getting married, and every wedding is getting more and more complicated, with more detailed seating, food preparation, and decorations. If you have ever been to a wedding where nothing is in order, and everyone is running around like crazy, then you should know, details are extremely important. Here are a few guidelines you should follow in order to have a perfect wedding.

to have a perfect wedding, you want to be able to enjoy every single second, without any worries in the back of your mind. Your special day should be a wonderful memory for you, your new spouse, and all the guests in attendance.

After you have announced your engagement to all family and friends you should start deciding on a style or theme for your wedding and creating your guest list. Be sure you and your spouse agree on everything and discuss each detail so there are no arguments and un-needed frustrations. Set the date and time of your wedding and know where you plan to have the ceremony, and book this place as soon as possible, don’t wait too long or it might be booked on your special day.

Next you and your spouse should decide on your special wedding song, and be sure you’ll be able to dance to this song also.

You should definitely start your wedding preparations as early as possible and have every little detail in writing; you might find it easiest to buy a wedding planning book, or software for your computer. First things first you should have a budget created, you should have this written down immediately before making any other plans or visiting any shops. You’ll need to have an amount set up for each specific thing you are buying.

Next, creating a timeline and deadline for when each specific thing should be ordered and in place. For example, you should have your dress picked out, sized, and in your possession within two months of the date of your wedding ceremony.

If you are having any out-of-town guests, be sure they have reservations at a local hotel or motel, or you can accommodate them in yours, or another family members home. You don’t want to have any last minute problems with family members not having a place to sleep.

Now you can decide on little extras for your wedding, like flowers, a DJ, photographers, etc. One way to save in this area is buy disposable indoor/outdoor cameras and place them on each table to have your guests take pictures for you. You could also find a local band to play at your wedding or reception instead of booking a professional DJ. When deciding on wedding favors, remember you can always make these to save you a few extra dollars here and there. Anything saved can always be used in a more important planning area of the wedding.

Now you need to purchase your wedding dress, the most important part of all. This may take some time before you find the perfect one, so you should start searching as soon as possible. After you have your dress picked out, you should start deciding on the bridesmaids’ dresses, and tuxedos for the groomsmen, including best man.

If you are having a makeup artist do yours, and/or your bridesmaid’s hair and makeup, you should book a date for this as soon as possible to make sure there is no confusion and no one has made other plans.

Two to six months prior you should start deciding where you want to go on your honeymoon. Be sure to keep in mind how the weather will be where you are going, you wouldn’t want to go to Hawaii during the rainy seasons. You should have your flights, hotel accommodations and everything booked as soon as you can, you don’t want any small worries on your wedding night.

After having your bridal shower, and sending out invitations you should make sure you have all the personal aspects of your wedding in place. For example, a month prior to the wedding you should have your marriage license, and any needed blood tests ready. Make sure your dress still fits perfect, and arrange any change if necessary.

One to two weeks prior to your wedding you need to have your wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, and tuxedos. Have the site you are having your wedding ceremony decorated and ready to go and then you should have your rehearsal dinner and make sure every aspect is 100% perfect. If you are having a bachelor/bachelorette party you should have it within a week of the wedding, definitely not the day before, because after a night of partying you sure don’t want to be rushed around getting ready for your big day, you’ll need your beauty rest.

Be sure to shop around for all of your items, looking at bulk stores, like Sam’s or Costco, it may save you hundreds of dollars. At these stores you may find several different finger foods and snacks to fill up your buffet for your guests. Taking this route will save you from having to order from any restaurant or personal caterers.
