The word chat has found a whole new meaning due to the Internet. Now it isn’t only chat; there is a whole chat world that has each people living different lives with different new and old characters. The most popular chatting medium is Yahoo messenger. It is most probably the oldest messenger and it is still widely popular. There are other messengers like MSN, Google, Skype, Rediff Bol, and others. Chat messengers are a medium of talking to friends, making new friends and are a very good time pass. You can even talk to your family through the messengers if you are living apart. The messengers have been very useful to students who study abroad. They talk to their families through the messengers and their parents save a lot of money by talking to their children free of cost. Messengers and chat rooms have not only served as an ideal time pass but have also served many people in their business and has helped lonely people talk their heart out.

A chat room is a place where several people can log in with their id and chat with many people at a time. There are different kinds of chat rooms where different people go for different reasons. The chat rooms are divided according to state; country, religion, purpose and each individual can also create their own rooms. Here, a majority of people visit to just talk with like-minded people or to just flirt around. Most people not only make up an id but they also assume a completely different identity. It is really not possible to know whether the person is telling the truth and thus a lot of people go about telling lies while they are in a chat room. People lead a completely different life in a chat room. They change their age, their job and even their personalities. Some do it for fun and some see it as a welcome change from the harsh reality. The virtual world is like an antidote to stress. Online flirting and other relationships are widely known and talked about and each person does it for a different purpose. A loner suddenly finds himself in company of people who like him and talk to him. It’s like he’s reborn. Some people don’t give out their real names and identities for security purposes but they keep their personalities same. Some people just like the different environment that the virtual world offers.

Chat rooms also offer ample company. There are even people who got married to the person they met through a chat room. Love boils in every cauldron in every corner of a chat room but you will have to be very careful about whom you let stir your cauldron. There are people who take advantage of girls by playing the good dude and then turn into ugly villains. Not only girls but also guys need to be very careful. Trust is a big issue in chat rooms and one shouldn’t let anyone take advantage of it.
