10 Reasons Why Guys Prefer Hooking Up Over Relationships

It’s an age-old paradox – Women tend to want to date exclusively one person at a time; while men want to hook up with as many females as possible. Where does this vast disconnect lie? The reason: Men are wired differently than women. Whoever coined the theory “Men are from Mars, women are from Venus” is right on the money.
Lest the men think this is going to be another male-bashing session, the claim is actually supported by research. According to a survey among college students by Carolyn Bradshaw and her colleagues at Virginia’s Madison University, more women than men prefer traditional dating over hooking up. Of the men and women who showed more inclination toward hooking up, the study revealed that men still outnumber women in this regard.
Here are 10 reasons why men tend to want and expect less from the relationship than women commitment-wise.

Hooking Girls

1. Variety. Guys want to spice things up, the more, the merrier. Men also tend to be more sexually active; when one girl complains of having a headache and can’t “perform,” they want the assurance that other girls are at their beck and call.
2. More experience. Virginity is more acceptable among women, but among men? It’s like a disease of the worst kind. Inexperience or lackluster performance in sex, whether real or imagined, is damaging to a man’s ego, and the solution is to have as many sexual conquests as possible.
3. Less drama. The cycle of breaking up and making up – the threats, tantrums, screams – these are anathema to a man’s sanity. With hook-ups, there are no rules, no responsibilities, just unbridled passion.
4. Minimal costs. No guilt over forgotten birthdays and anniversaries. No regular dinners at expensive restaurants. In fact, many hook-ups happen just after a drink or two.
5. Lots of girls available. Chat rooms. dating sites, and mobile dating technologies have made it increasingly possible for men to find willing girls to hook up with.
6. Rivalry. Men simply love the idea of having several women vying for their attention because it feeds their ego. They feel loved and desired.
7. No biological clocks to worry about. Let’s face it: Women tend to have a shorter shelf-life biologically, so by age 30-35 and they are still unattached, they become frantic to get serious in relationships.
8. Less pressure to marry. When women are still single by the age of 40, their family and friends become alarmed. Women dread the prospect of becoming a spinster and suffering from the stigma attached to it. With men, there is less pressure from the community to settle down.
9. Fear of intimacy. There is a tendency for men from broken families to be commitment phobia. The fact that they are less open about their feelings than women makes it harder for them to deal with their psychological issues so these tend to manifest in relationships.
10. Separation impact anxiety. Dating is considered a step toward engagement, which in turn is a step toward marriage and, potentially, divorce, alimony and child support. To men this spells H-E-L-L. So they decide to just play the field and adopt the motto, “Why pay for the cow if the milk is free?”
